Project Lighthouse
Developed and initiated in 1999, GPS Project Lighthouse started by sponsoring local published author visits to the St. Paul School system. Since then Project Lighthouse has expanded to include NASA, reptilian and robotics demonstrations, and most recently University of Minnesota Raptor Center and Minnesota Science Museum demonstrations.
The program has served numerous Minneapolis, St. Paul, and suburban area schools and libraries. We have provided educational entertainment to thousands of metro area children, ranging in age from elementary schoolers to high schoolers. GPS has relied on the rich, metro area fan base talent, and the nationally recognized University of Minnesota Raptor Center and the Minnesota Science Museum to obtain experienced demonstrators for GPS sponsored programs. These specific educational programs showcase our local authors, robotics personnel, reptilian experts, and specialists from the University of Minnesota Raptor Center and Minnesota Science Museum.
GPS members, their families and friends all benefit from this program as GPS sponsors and pays for each demonstration at every school or library which has been pre-approved for the demonstrations.
