School is out (mostly), the weather is warm (hopefully), and the geekiness continues. May was busy ([email protected], auction at CONsole Room, and the Annual Membership Meeting, and June is no less busy. We’ve got a picnic to run, a presence at Twin Cities Pride to organize, and CONvergence to prepare for.

GPS June Events
June 14 – GPS Annual Picnic–Everyone is welcome! It will be at Cherokee Park in St. Paul from noon to 5 pm. We have the large pavilion.
17th ANNUAL MARK TIME AWARDS FOR SF AUDIO
Announcement of the winners will be in mid-June, and the presentation to the winners will be during the Opening Ceremonies at CONvergence in July. Be sure to check out the Mark Time website to find some of the best SF and F audio theater over the last 16 years. Especially look for the Mark Time SF Audio Hall of Fame for the best going back to the 1930s.

July 3-6 – [email protected] – We have a lot going on at the convention – we’ll be bringing a class of kids in on Thursday for sciencey/geeky exposure, our Charity Auction runs all weekend, our party room in Cabana 110 will be having daytime programming as well as the party hours, and there will be several panels. August 2 – Ice Cream Social – GPS invites all members, partner members, and local geeks to come out to the Highland Park picnic shelter for the annual ice cream get together. We will be providing ice cream and basic toppings, and have some games that are park appropriate. Feel free to bring homemade toppings – there may even be a contest!
September 20 – Great Geek Garage Sale – This is one day only. Keep an eye on the website for the scheduled donation drop off times.

UGG joins Crafty Geek to hang out for a few hours and work on whatever scenery making, miniature painting, map making or other gaming projects, we want to do in the company of others.
CONvergence Operations Training Sessions – There are 4 sessions scheduled covering the same material, you only need to attend once. These count for volunteer hours. Training covers the computer systems, standard operational procedure, and how to deal with unique situations.
All sessions will be at Event Horizon in the Waterbury Building, 1121 Jackson St NE, 106A.
