United Geeks of Gaming
Each month, United Geeks of Gaming would meet at a pre-arranged location for board games, card games, RPGs, and just about any other kind of game we can get our hands on. We can work together towards putting on a great presence at CONvergence as well as keep ourselves abreast of the latest and greatest developments in our hobby.
The club will be meeting weekly. Check this page or sign up to the Gaming Google Group for meeting information.
Email Elliott James at gaming@geekpartnership.org if you have any questions!
Black Hat Collective
The Black Hat Collective is a Twin Cities based group of comic creators. Our principles are as follows:
- Engage in constructive peer critique to improve as artists and writers
- Produce the best weird little comics we can
- Consume punch and pie (if punch and pie is not available, copious amounts of Chinese food will suffice)
It's shiny, right?
And this year is even shinier - we're having Comic Artists' Nite at the Opera in cooperation with the MN Opera House.
The Black Hat Collective meets once a month, usually on Saturday afternoons. If you're interested in joining us for an art jam, drop us a line at blackhatcollective@gmail.com.
Please find our group on Blogspot.
Crafty Geek
Crafty Geek invites you to make something: awesome!
A group where geeky crafters can get together to socialize, learn, share and show off.
This group is run by Alicia and Brandy who would love to see you Thursdays at 7pm at the Waterbury building for crafty get-togetherness.
Please find our group on Facebook and Google Groups under Crafty Geek.
If you are interested contact Crafty Geek at craftygeek@geekpartnership.org!
Geek Physique
"Fitness and wellness that is all our own"
Geek Physique is all about fullness of life while enjoying being a geek. We are bringing fun, often unique fitness activities to you, along with wellness science.
Geek Physique also has its very own Meetup site. Meetup is a really great tool for a busy and dynamic club like Geek Physique. The robust scheduling and content flexibility make it ideal for reaching people and keeping them up-to-date on the wacky brand of fitness that only Geek Physique can provide. We encourage everyone out there to log on to Meetup and join the Geek Physique group, even if you are already on our Facebook or Google Groups. Meetup is likely to become our main method for communicating news and events, and we think you will find it a lot easier to use than the other avenues.

Geeks Read
Remember the book that started it all? What was ground zero for your fascination with science fiction, or fantasy, or horror? Do you love a good discussion about books that you loved, or hated, or just don't get? This club's for you!
Geeks Read is for people who want to explore the worlds of the written word. Now, GPS already has the great Read the Book, See the Movie club which specializes in novels that have been made into films, and does not limit itself to any one type of story. Geeks Read will focus our selections on the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. Come join us as we explore the books that were important to the history of the genre, or important in our own personal histories.
Geeks Read meets the first Tuesday of every month, with doors open at 7:00 pm and the discussion beginning at 7:30 pm. The location will change depending on who volunteers to host for next time at the current meeting. We select titles three months in advance, and at each meeting we will choose a new book for the third month out from that meeting. Geeks Read includes a potluck of treats, so feel free to bring something tasty!
Upcoming Book Selections:
November 1st, 2011 (Date change due to elections) (Tuesday) - Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss

Read the Book/See the Movie
The GPS Read the Book/See the Movie club was the first club formed by our organization. The club's goal was to expand our reading and film horizons by comparing and contrasting films to their source material. We have read books by H. G. Wells, Robert Heinlein, Mark Twain, Jane Austen and other well known authors. We have also strayed from classic novels and short stories to read such works as plays by William Shakespeare and the original screenplay for the Batman feature film. The club has become an education in literary and film history as well as an education in how the film industry adapts written material. We've also had a lot of fun!
The club meets on the second Friday of every month. Social time at 7:00 pm - movie beings promptly at 7:30 pm. Location rotates among club members' homes. The club also sponsors a couple of "a-thons" per year (such as the Bond-a-thon or the Toon-a-thon).
If you have any questions about the club, please email Mary and George at bookmovie@geekpartnership.org.
Tsuinshi - Anime Club
Tsuinshi is a GPS club sponsored by our partner Anime Twin Cities that will be showing anime twice a month on the second and fourth Fridays starting at 8:30 PM. So come and join us for some good times and some great anime.
