February is a double header. Trench coats and fedoras. Singing nightclub bombshells. Are they both comic, or cartoonish? One movie main character based on a comic actually did a cameo in the book the other is base on (by Gary K. Wolf, 1981). Brace yourself…SHIMMIES are coming! That’s right, Geek Slink is back for the 2014 season with GPS and Geek Physique for a 6 session series starting February 20.
Geek Slink is a casual belly dance class for folks of all ages, sizes and character classes. Total n00bs as well as seasoned veterans with higher level XP are all welcome to come and shimmy with us! This is a casual ‘workshop’ style class! Please understand that as Geek Slink frequently has fairly large attendance numbers, 1 on 1 individual assistance is not always possible. DO expect, however, to have a lot of fun in a no pressure, safe space environment.

Designers Session – The “”Designers Sessions”” series of events are a series of meetings for game designers of all stripes to come together. We will discuss our experiences and difficulties of developing the systems, mechanics and lore of our hobby. We will debate the pros and cons of game systems, and assist each other with problems in the games we are currently working on. We will also play test games that designers are currently working on, or just play games that we really enjoy.

Upcoming for GPS
GPS Writing Contest – Once again it’s time for those so inclined to put pen to paper/fingers to keyboard to create and submit for the GPS Writing Contest. GPS Team Trivia Challenge will be at Pepito’s Parkway Theater on Saturday April 12. Elimination rounds start 2:45pm. The main event starts at 5:30pm.
The Team Trivia Challenge is a game show-style trivia competition for teams, and a fun-filled event for both competitors and spectators alike. Teams of up to four members each test their science fiction and fantasy knowledge on a variety of topics ranging from movies to comics to television to science and more. Eight teams (the previous year’s defending champions and seven challenging teams) compete for bragging rights and (modestly budgeted) fabulous prizes!

JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes
Here in the ATC community, we have many people who are directly and indirectly affected by diabetes. This is a great way to get together with a bunch of our favorite people to help out for a great cause.
The walk is February 22nd, 2014 at 8:30 AM, at the Mall of America in Bloomington. All are welcome to join our team as we support the mission of the JDRF. If you can’t join us at the walk, feel free to donate so that we can reach our goal!
